The Story of my Photography Life
Biography "You don't just take a Photograph, you make it. The Landscape is a character that is always changing"--Ansel Adams My Photography story I became interested in photography from childhood, when my father would take pictures with a film camera, where you had to set the aperture and exposure yourself to capture a frame in natural light. Those were wonderful moments. When we went into the forest with my family, we would play there while my father photographed every moment. It’s so enjoyable to see those times now, especially those black-and-white photos. When we returned home, we would develop the photos ourselves, hiding in the kitchen from the light, only in red light. We would pull out the secondary apparatus that exposed the paper. We filled the developer and fixer, and that unforgettable moment when you had to think about how many seconds to expose the paper, then putting it into the developer and watching the image appear… Those moments were irreplaceable, bringing everyone together in the darkness, in the red light, where a real life process was taking place. I still remember the smell of the developer. Now, with digital cameras and phones, photography is easy. I wonder if someone were given a film camera, would they even know how to use it?” Photography has accompanied me throughout my life, more or less. Although I studied choral conducting and piano at the Conservatory, I didn’t work in that field after graduation; instead, I continued to develop my passion for photography. I still shot with a film camera, and then color Kodak film became available. I got a job printing photos at a mini-lab, producing images for ordinary people. I learned how important color correction— Y,M,C—was and how to adjust them if someone brought in a poor-quality roll. I took photography courses at college and shot only two weddings on film. Imagine how your heart races, not knowing if you’ve set the correct exposure and aperture until you develop the film and print the photos. It turned out well, but I didn’t want to take on that responsibility during weddings anymore. My photos were published in two magazines in my country and another. I switched to digital photography only in 2006. Compared to film, I feel that film photography is livelier, more genuine, and warmer. Now, I photograph in my studio, capturing stock commercial images, models, and portraits and I travel a lot, photographing various landscapes. I still have a lot to add to my website. Thank you for visiting.
